Tell us about your craft, what do you do?"I am a self taught special FX and beauty makeup artist."
How did you become involved in your craft?"I was always into art. I use to draw a lot and I've always wanted to do something where I could incorporate my artistic side into a real career. I saw some "how to do zombie makeup" videos on YouTube and thought...wow that's super cool and gross. Let's freak people out with this shit! Hah!"
When did you decide to make this a career?"A few years ago, I got hired to a sugar skull makeup look for Los Dios de los Muertos aka "Day of the Dead." (A Beautiful holiday, by the way.)From then on I got hired to do a few special FX looks for Halloween, beauty makeup for weddings, and fashion shoots. Also, the different atmosphere and the new people I get to meet. It's just exciting because everyone that I work with has a vision and I get to help make that vision come to life. And if you could turn your hobbies into a career...well, wouldn't you? You get to do what you love to do as a job. How fun would that be?"
What challenges have you overcome in your industry?"A lot of special FX makeup looks require a lot of time. It's a challenge sometimes but I feel like I am getting better at finishing a look quicker and more efficient than I have before."
If you could go back in time to when you first began, what advice would you give yourself?"Just go for it. Don't be afraid to fail."
What future goals do you have set next in your industry?"I am hoping to learn, create more content, and work with more talented and passionate people."
